I am 13 years old living in Philadelphia, PA. Sing and dancing are both two things I admire deeply and I love to do. I've done things from joining choirs to pputting myself out there on myspace. I don't know where to find a good agent. And on the downside, this is not the career choice for my father. If anyone knows what it is that I can do, please answer!! Thank you!!=0]

Well you could save some money and make a demo cd and mail it to local radio stations and with the dancing just look around for local competions. You could also search around online for good agents in your area and make sure that you EXTREMELY LOVE what your doing because if you love it people can tell and if you PRACTICE at least 2 hours a day you can MOST DEFF make it!!! So HOPE you follow your DREAMS!

Becoming famous is almost impossible these days unless you have connections, and really, I'm not sure being famous is such a great deal anyway.

You're 13, you should be worrying about school and puberty and dating, not agents and money/fame and myspace.

Don't forget Youtube. But you have to be REALLY good to be noticed as a prodigy. If not, then you're gonna have to wait till you get out of college, most likely from Julliard or Oberlin.

You hormones are talking to you louder than you brain is. You DESPERATELY want someone to notice you - but you really know that it takes a phenomenal amount of talent, education (and those lessons and classes are far from cheap) experience and LUCK to even get EMPLOYED, not ever famous. There are numerous fine schools and colleges in Philadelphia that offer classes to young people, and then you can also attend attend at the college level. Temple University, University of the Arts - heck, do your OWN research if it means that much to you! You are FAR AWAY from thinking about an agent, and MySpace is just a waste of time - nobody serious in the business bothers to wade thru that crap.

If you have adult dreams, then you need an adult plan. You do not have ANY plan right now - you just think that some agent is going to swoop you up and get you all the training you need? There is job is to represent the FINISHED PRODUCT. So - you have much work to do. And no decent college is going to accept you into a music or dance program without really god academics, either. Go check out the admissions pages of some really good colleges, and find out! Hartt College of Music/University of Hartford (CT) has a big music theater program - so does NYU. Read about what you have to have for grades and artistic achievements before they will even read you application! So - get to work! You have 4 years before you have to apply to college. Get off the computer, and start working on your PLAN to make you dreams happen. I wish you much luck!

Instead, focus on performing and building your skills. Do something because you love it, not to "get fame," otherwise you're choosing the wrong careers.
