In the article it talks about how people don't want to be doctors or lawyers because it is "boring" and not worth the trouble.
People now want to be entreprenuers and want to be instant millionaires by famous websites(youtube or myspace) or famous actors.
I personally believe the change in our perspective is because we are starting to become the generation where we can say anything or be anything without judgement. We can be emo, gay, lesbian, black, republican, democrat, or anything you want without fear or social prosecution from your peers. Comedians can speak their mind and say just about anything.
Why do you think our generation is starting to change it's perspective on what we want to do in life? Explain in Detail.
Generation X and above doesn't want to be Doctors or Lawyers. Why do you think this is happening?
I think it is because it is a long, hard road to becoming a doctor or lawyer and like you said, people are looking for a fast, easy way to become rich.
Generation X and above doesn't want to be Doctors or Lawyers. Why do you think this is happening?
Laziness and short attention spans will deter people who want immediacy and are unwilling to invest time and emotional capital in meaningful careers (and futures).
Generation X and above doesn't want to be Doctors or Lawyers. Why do you think this is happening?
We are used to having things done for us, and rarely do we have to work for things (as a whole). Medical school/Law School is tough, and we aren't used to tough things.
The MTV generation doesn't go to medical/law school...it takes too long, and the payouts aren't as great as they used to compared to less time consuming options.
It is a problem, and when our parents start dying we could be in trouble.

Welcome to the microwave generation. We want everything now, and we don't want to have to work for anything. We've gotten through school without having to learn hardly anything, and they pass kids who deserve to fail because the state won't fund the kid for the extra school years. (A teacher friend of mine was told that, just move the kids on through)
This generation of kids is spoiled rotten and they've now entered the workplace. They are the bane of their co-workers. A good work ethic is hard to find in the youngsters. Why work hard? You still get paid, and they rarely fire anyone. We live in a world where negative consequences seem hard to come by.
Generation X and above doesn't want to be Doctors or Lawyers. Why do you think this is happening?
I think it is because people don't appreciate the hard work and long hours that doctors and lawyers put in anymore. Additionally, because the markets are flooded for most of the non-specialty positions in these fields, putting in the hours doesn't mean that you will be able to financially survive. So, why bother?

The expense of higher education is mind boggling. As far as becoming a medical doctor if we as a nation continue on the road to Universal Health Care there will be no profit in becoming a doctor.
I think we forget that we are a capitalistic country and that profits drive innovation, and success.
I know I am not lazy and I am a Gen X, My father-in-law (Baby Boomer) claims that the world is going down hill all the time, he is a true pessimist. I set through my college history classes and I am pretty sure that this time in history is much better than WWII era with a crazy German trying to conquer the word
Generation X and above doesn't want to be Doctors or Lawyers. Why do you think this is happening?
My state certainly doesn't reflect what you say about people not wanting to become lawyers as schools to become lawyers are popping up all over the state.
Because some people are wanting socialized medicine in the USA that will diminish the doctor's status and income so I can see why those who want to be doctors are laying low (so to speak) at the moment waiting to see what the outcome of the presidential election will be. In addition, those who are doctors now are worn to a frazzle with work and lawsuits and high insurance costs and not getting paid because of illegals, and the cost of education has risen as well. So if people don't want to become doctors I can understand. Like most higher professions in this country, there are few top people and a lot of assistants. And I suspect this was done so the assistants could come from other countries and be paid less. I don't know how long that will last though since the USD has been devalued. We might have to come up with our own doctors and assistants in the future, and so I think the USA should gear up for an advertising campaign to train and recruit more doctors.
Generation X and above doesn't want to be Doctors or Lawyers. Why do you think this is happening?
I think that everything is changing. Doctors and Lawyers
don't seem exciting, but that is a delusion. Just think about
doctors and how they play God and how lawyers help
make or break a person's entire future. Most people just
want money...It's nothing new. Hope I didn't break your
bubble, sweet cheeks...

Why do people not want to be doctors and lawyers? Simple answer.
It's not necessarily about young people wanting to make money fast. But look at the prices of upper education, a doctor has to go to school for so many years and they will get in deep debt.
If they crack under the stress and fail and don't become a doctor, then what, they'll live in debt slavery for the rest of their life? Couple that and the fact we will probably be getting socialized medicine, eventually, and that will lower the wages for doctors.
For lawyer, where did one get the idea that the job is prestigious? Everyone I know hates them. They make money off of personal tragedy, suing people and schools for ridiculous sums of money, and make money off of breaking-up families. Haven't anyone of you heard a lawyer joke? People don't like them, and sorry to burst your bubble but yes some of the youth do have a moral compass and would feel bad to make money in such a bad way.
Lastly, the article mentions creativity and individuality. Yes that is very important and many youth want that. I know someone who wants to be a freelance computer programmer/technician, taking programming jobs from clients and fixing, repairing, tuning up people's pcs.
So that is all I have to say on the subject.
Thanks for asking.
Generation X and above doesn't want to be Doctors or Lawyers. Why do you think this is happening?
I believe Gen X does not want to put in the time or make the effort or has what it takes to tackle a higher level. Yes they and we want everything instantly...Yeah, the quick fix, easy laughs and fast route to easy money. They strange thing is some of they actually make it. Look at William Hung of American Idol and how much support he got. As for those who persevere and become doctors and lawyers it is sometimes exhausting and lonely and always expensive for them. We complain about the cost of their services but wouldn't think twice about blowing a couple of hundred dollars on a pop concert.

i want know that in the future is everything going to come back the way it was in the begining when all race use to be all one which mean is when black where in africa an when europe use to be all white people whith blond hair whith blue eye an in the north an south america use to be native of american.
