he's prolly famous where he's from or an up and coming artist, but they usually do that because thats how they promote themselves to try to get a wider more diverse fan base.

Bands do that all the time to "get the word out" about their music. It's sort of like an advertisement for them.

If you like the music, then add them. If you don't, then don't feel obligated to add them because they ask hundreds of people to be their friends so they can spread their music around. It's nothing personal to add a band or reject a band.

Many people have music profiles,and their are many bands.

Most likely if they band / artist is unsigned then they aren't that famous. If your asking if he is fake,then he isn't. Most "famous" artists have thousands of friends. Besides,why would people add a fake account? Have a nice day.

If you befriend a "popular" band, be prepared for frequent updates. They want fans and will promote themselves to sell more records, concert tix, and merch. The really want to kick up their numbers to show the A%26amp;R guys who might give them a shot at a contract.
