The whole "scene" look used to be cute when only a few people had it, but now it seems every 12 yr old in america wants to look this way. I'm not saying there is anything wrong with the style [i used to like it] but now its just making me sick.
I swear at least once everyday theres some kid on here asking how to do their hair like that, and its making the once unique look, turn totally mainstream and unoriginal.
Teens tend to think just because the people are famous on myspace that they're something in real life. But half of them don't even have any real friends.
I'm not trying to pick on anybody who looks like that, [well at least the ones that have had that style for a while now] but all the 13 yr olds trying to poof their hair, buy leggings, and get some bows at Claires makes me sick.

Why do people want to look this way? who said you and your friends were normal? i don't see anything normal about matching bleach jobs and tans. that's just as abnormal as a group of mallrats with emo hair and fishnets. Don't be upset because some kids are capable of fashion creativity unlike those that shop at hollister. i agree that the whole psuedo rock look is getting old at a rapid speed, but there isn't anything you can do about it. it'll die out, and then people will start dressing like it's the 70's again and then you can complain about that instead and wonder why all the kids want to have afros and bell bottoms instead of "looking normal". i mean do you really even care about what other kids wear? or was it just a good excuse to put a pic up of you and your friend? realize that people are different and wants to express themselves differently. They go for eyeliner and teased hair, you go for pink lipgloss and mystic tan. Who the hell cares? Get over it.

Why do people want to look this way? Well nobody around where i live does that. Everyone's all obsessed with Hollister, Abercrombie way more than trying to be 'scene'. If they wanna do that, then there's nothing to do to stop them. People want to look that way because it appeals to them or looks cool to them. The same way a lot of people wanna wear Hollister. Some wear it because they actually like it. Some wear it so they can fit in.

But I get the basic idea of what you're talking about. Maybe part of the problem is that a lot of young people seem to be trying to establish a weird sort of identity by their clothing. Otherwise, why do we have labels/styles such as "preppy" "goth" and "jock"?
I visited a big art fair in the city a few months ago; I was struck by the number of people with crazy hair colors, different clothing, gazillion piercings, etc. It was almost like they were trying so hard to be different... and yet, so many other people had gone with basically the same style.
I dunno. My friends are pretty unique in that they just pick whatever looks good (or at least what they think looks good :-), and they establish their own style. Me, on the other hand... I just throw on a T-shirt and shorts and say to heck with what people think. I'm kind of a slob that way. :-)
Why do people want to look this way? Tell my about it! I used to like the style, I thought it looked unusual, and intriguingly cool. Now, it's nothing special to me, because it's what a lot of people inspire to be.
To me, what's even worse is the posers. I see all these people (usually preteens) with stereotypical scene profile pictures, captions and everything, but yet you can tell it's not really them.
It seems to me like it's a just a fad, and it will fade like all the others.

i for one am a creative and style my own clothes so no one has the same thing as me but the point is whatever is being portrayed by others is what people (young people) are going to try to follow
